Thou shalt not covet...

It's happening again.  It's February, we've got 8" of snow all over our fair city with expectations of more to come and my winter hate-on is in full throttle.  This is not fun for me. I recognize it is just something I'll have to deal with, but I haven't as of yet, so it's best to tread lightly when sharing my space.  Meanwhile, I count the days and start planning my summer garden to help time pass.

Then it happens.
Slowly at first, then gaining momentum until a full out tantrum is about to irrupt. This can only be attributed to the happy masses of people who feel compelled to jet off to sunny tropical environs and then have the gall to rub it in with 'counting sleeps to Maui' or wherever they decide to fly while us poor saps are left behind with fake smiles on our faces wishing them a bon voyage.   Painful reminders that we are breaking another commandment by coveting their good fortune.  The only thing that prevents me from a complete nuclear meltdown is knowing that, unlike Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, I will actually get spring... in Spring!  No passing directly to sweltering, mosquito infested summer sometime in August, only to wrap that up quickly in September to welcome snow back in October.  (See, just writing that makes me feel so much better!)  Then, of course, there is the coast with it's lovely summers, but grey monsoons for the rest of the year. I think not.

Nope, we've got it relatively good here in K-town, with its 4 seasons, stunning lakes and mountains and awesome wineries, not to mention the camp fires that are delivered right to your door... literally.

But what's a little smoke, eh?
